it all begins with an idea and evolves through a process of trial and error, ups and downs, gutters and strikes, until, at long last, the piece emerges as you see it. my favorite part is the moment the work returns to an idea in the mind of the observer. i hope to make work that inspires others to share their ideas with anyone willing to listen, and if you are having trouble finding someone willing to listen then try making work for people to touch, taste and smell. that never fails!
furniture invites a certain level of intimacy and curiosity on the part of the viewer. it can disappear into the surrounding architecture or it can become the center piece of a particular space. The use of furniture and functional objects in my artwork helps me to create a scene that can evoke a sense of humor, mystery and curiosity.
objects surround us. tools, toys, trinkets, gadgets and gizmos of all shapes and sizes fill our lives. making objects of varying degrees of functionality has always been a part of my creative process. some are explorations of form while others are very specific in their intended use.
time flies when you are having fun! some of the work on this page was made very early in my career, however, i continue to draw on some of the themes of this early work in my current endeavors.
these are just a few of the books and articles that feature my work along with some very talented artists from all around the world.
this section is under development. i will soon have images and videos of previous group and solo exhibitions.
